Grandfathering Information

For a copy of the June 16 WEBINAR: Link to Webinar

To introduce prevention certification in Maine, the Maine Prevention Certification Board is offering a “GRANDFATHERING” PERIOD to  Certified Prevention Specialist (PS-C) applicants.

This allows people whose work experience and education qualify them for certification to be “grandfathered” into the new credentialing system.

GRANDFATHERING PERIOD is JUNE 15 – SEPTEMBER 15, 2015
(Application postmarked by 9-15-2015 with no exceptions)

If you apply for a Certified Prevention Specialist credential during this time, you will only have to complete Step 1 of the application process.  All applicants will still need to:

  • read the manual
  • fill out the PS-C application packet that documents experience and education
  • submit a signed Code of Ethics
  • arrange for references to be sent to the board

But you do not need to complete Step 2.  Therefore, applicants will NOT have to take the IC&RC Examination.  This will save our first group of PS-Cs both time and money ($115).

Be sure to take advantage of this one-time opportunity!
